IZMIR GENETIK was founded by Dr. Akin Sevinc in 2015, upon a 31 years of experience in healthcare services industry by Dr. Erdal Sevınc and Dr. Cigdem SEVINC.
Dr. Akin Sevinc, utilizing his 20 years of experience in human molecular genetics and medicine in Chicago and United States, he has performed numerous analyses arrangements in United States and Turkey. Izmir Genetik has evolved into a fully licensed and certified genetics testing laboratory in 2021, and now able to perform 500+ different types of genetic tests.
Genetic testing lies at the heart of medicine. It provides unmatched advantages to both physicians and patients. For example, EXOMESTAR a novel test developed by Izmir genetik using whole exome sequence analysis and its proprietary analysis methods, can prodive you with important clues on;
- determining disease susceptibilities,
- determining underlying causes of symptoms,
- formulating therapeutical strategies for disease management and cure.

Our Team
Yrd. Doç. Dr. Akin SEVINC
Dr. Sevinc was born in May 1979, in Izmir. He graduated from Middle East Technical University, Dpt. of Molecular Biology and Genetics, in 2001. He then completed his graduate studies in Bilkent University on Cancer Genetics, and Doctorate studies in University of Illinois at Chicago.
He returned to his home country in 2015 via TUBITAK scholarship, during which he worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Middle East Technical University. He worked as a faculty member in Altinbas University, Faculty of Medicine, between 2017-2020.

Dr. Cigdem SEVINC
She was born in March 1953, in Izmir. She graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1976 as a Medical Doctor. After completing her specialy in the field of Bacteriology and Infectious Diseases, she has worked as the primary physician in Izmir Hıfzıssıhha Institute and Izmir Water Manatement.
After retiring in 1995, she has worked at Izmir Diabetes Hospital and Dialab Laboratory, she opened her own clinic in Alsancak, İzmir in 2019 and still works here.
Meanwhile, she has also worked in the field of Medical Laboratory services starting with Nokta Ozel Saglik Merkezi in 1993, MBG Medical Microbiology Laboratory in 2018 and Izmir Genetik Diseases Evaluation Center since 2021.
After retiring in 1995, she has worked at Izmir Diabetes Hospital and Dialab Laboratory, she opened her own clinic in Alsancak, İzmir in 2019 and still works here.
Meanwhile, she has also worked in the field of Medical Laboratory services starting with Nokta Ozel Saglik Merkezi in 1993, MBG Medical Microbiology Laboratory in 2018 and Izmir Genetik Diseases Evaluation Center since 2021.
Dr. Erdal SEVINC
Dr. Sevinc graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1973 as a Medical Doctor, in the branch of Internal Medicine. He has worked in Bozyaka Hospital – İzmir and FMC Dialysis Centers after completing his competency in Nephrology. Meanwhile, he has also continued his practice in Nokta Ozel Saglik Merkezi for more than 30 years, until he joined Izmir Genetik in 2021.
After retiring in 2002, he continues to work in the private sector/clinics.

Dr. Özlem Tandoğdu
Dr. Saglam graduated from Ondokuzmayıs University, Faculty of Medicine in 1991, and OMU Department of Medical Biology and Genetics in 2000. He continued his studies in ESHRE – Belgium and Reproductive Institute of Chicago in the fields of preimplantation genetics.
He worked in Istanbul Cerrahpaşa Hospital (2002-2003), Istanbul Memorial Hospital (2004-2007) in IVF Center as the Medical Director, and he has completed a significant number of chromosome abnormalities and single gene disorder analyses. He has worked as the President of the Istanbul Goztepe Medical Park Hospital between the years of 2008-2016, which was continued with his Faculty member position in Maltepe University, Faculty of Medicine.
He joined Izmir Genetik in 2002. He has more than 30 articles published in national and international scientific journals, significant number of manuscripts, and scientific contribution in 2 books that were published.
Many people choose Turkey as their medical tourism destination owing to its desirable quality in medical care and attractive cost/benefit ratio. In Turkey, prices for medical care is much lower than in the EU or the USA, but the quality of medical services is identical.

How to get to our institute?
From ADNAN MENDERES AIRPORT – The easiest way to reach our institute is using IZBAN – rail system. Please take the rail to the BASMANE stop, and call us at 0544 436 3845 and we would be more than happy to greet you there.
From ISTANBUL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – Please ensure with us about your travel plans and we will greet you at the airport and help with your transfer to Izmir.
